In this article, we’ve asked the incredible Brittany Darling to answer some questions about herself and her day-to-day as a successful businesswoman and busy mama.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are, accreditation).
Hey! I’m Brit Darling. I’m a mother of 2, an accredited nutritionist and founder of I’m Nutrients, a children’s supplement company, and co-founder of both Day One Fertility, an online platform for all things fertility, pregnancy and post-birth nutrition and Eius Fertility which is a next-gen supplement startup.
I hold a Bachelor of Health Science, specialising in nutritional medicine as well as an Advance Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine. In addition to this, I have postgraduate qualifications in Human Nutrition (Deakin) and Paediatric Nutrition (Monash). I am accredited by the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. I am the recipient of two awards for my work: LuxLife 2022 Nutritionist of the Year and ATMS Highly Commended Practitioner of the Year.
Who had the greatest influence on you?
Without a doubt my kids. Having them certainly shaped my career and special interests. My journey into motherhood was much bumpier than expected. After resurfacing on the other side, I decided to focus my research and time on making things better for other parents through nutrition and accessible nutrition education.
Take us through a typical day in the life.
Gosh, every day is so very different. I usually start work early before the family wakes up, I then do the morning school logistics and hopefully do a pilates class before settling into my desk around 10-11 am. I usually wrap up work around 6 pm and cook dinner. A typical day is usually a combination of seeing clients in my clinic 1:1, lots of meetings for all three businesses, keeping up to date with research and trying to keep on top of Instagram messages and emails.
What has been the biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has been trying to accommodate the growing number of clients with only a limited number of consulting hours. Day One Fertility has really helped me better accommodate my growing waitlist by being able to offer self-paced online nutrition education. The type of nutritional interventions I would discuss with my 1:1 clients, but instant access and more affordable.
What have been your key learnings and how did this impact your daily experience?
Covid changed the way I work and live dramatically. While the initial phase was very stressful, ultimately it has streamlined the way I work and expanded my offering for my clients. My key learning was to simplify and prioritise the important things. I also learnt the power of collaboration, joining forces with other experts in the field to create incredible things I would have only ever dreamt about on my own.
What are you most proud of?
Gosh, so many things. I’m incredibly proud of my co-founders and what we have been able to achieve in between nappy changes and school pick-ups.
What does the future hold for you?
BIG THINGS! All the businesses will continue to evolve and continue to support our community with more offerings launching soon. I’m excited to work in so many female-founded and led startups and to contribute to the progression of accessible nutritional education and next-gen supplements.
